Why is MTV doing this?

Being a teen father makes me have mixed emotions about this new tv series from MTV called 16 and pregnant. What was MTV thinking? Lets make an educational show about how hard being a teen-age parent could be? Or lets make a show that may influence teens to have kids allowing them to think it’s fine since they saw some other 16 year old couple on TV hoping they’d be on TV.

On the series premiere they showed a couple who pretty much had everything going for them but now struggle with their new responsibility. The boyfriend and father was not being supportive and the mother had most of the responsibility even though they both lived in the same house. Is this how the show will be most of the time? Probably.

It’s pretty obvious that teens having kids isn’t the best idea, there could be other ways out but it all depends on the person. I’ve mentioned previously about how I think my situation is way different then the average teen-age pregnancy and I’m still going to stick with that thought. I feel as if the MTV show condones young pregnancies in a small way. It probably wont make some average 16 year old run off and get pregnant but it could allow them to think that it’s fine because they can get a TV show out of it. No it’s not fine.
