How to pick a baby name?

2009 March 14

I can’ tell you what to chose or what to name your child but I can sure guide you to what you may want.

It was hard at first for us to pick our daugther’s name. We had no idea what we wanted to name her. We did but at the same time we didn’t know if that was the right name for her.

I’m sure this will happen to many future parents and currently awaiting parents. What you want to do is think of a real pretty name that you’ve always wanted for yourself. Mix it up with something that both parents like and success you have a name.

I don’t recommend baby name books because it’s just too bland of me to say “hey go check out a baby name book to name your child” as a parent I couldn’t find myself doing that.

Here’s what we did – Mother wanted to name baby Briana. For some odd reason. I did not like that name at all. I wanted baby to be named Alessandra. Mother loved the name but was still wanting Briana to be her name. I told her that we should name her Briana Alessandra, In my head I didn’t want her to be named that but hey it had both of our thought up names in it. She and I both agreed that we didn’t like that combination. She started liking Alessandra as the name more and more as the days went on. My girlfriend’s name ends in Lyn so I said we should name her Alessandra Lynn. Alessandra to represent what I had picked and Lynn to represent my girlfriend’s ending letters. She absolutely loved it as did I. From that day on we knew what we wanted to name her.

I personally think it’s a very unique name. It’s also very cute that we both came up with it. Everyone that we meet and asks what her name is always says it’s a very nice name.

Be creative, come to an agreement. Use words and names that you’ve always liked.
