Finally Home

2009 April 16

After three weeks of being at the hospital for my baby daughter we’re finally back home. It was a long three weeks at the hospital. Two of which she was in the intensive care unit due to two surgeries that she had gotten in a two week time span.

As some of you readers know my daughter was diagnosed with VSD – Ventricular Septal Defect and was required to have surgery for a Banding of the Pulmonary Artery.

The first surgery which occurred the throughout the first and second week of our stay at the hospital was successful to a certain degree. It was a minor procedure often done on babies but still scary for new parents, or any parents period.

As mentioned the first surgery was successful but a second was needed to tighten-up the band that they had already put on her because she wasn’t responding to it as she should have. It was scary but it was needed. The second procedure was a lot quicker than the first taking up only about two hours of waiting and two days of being on a breathing tube. She recovered well from it and we were able to come home finally.

That was journey for the past month at the hospital. My daughter is doing great right now and her incision has healed already. She’s due back for the patching of her VSD’s sometime in the next six to nine months. Until that time comes up I hope to not be at a hospital for my daughter for the mean time. Wish you all well!
